The area east of the center, close to the central bus station, has of late become a popular neighborhood for restaurants. Traditionally it was the center itself, and the vicinity west of the center that were the main region of Reykjavík's foodscape, with people heading towards the part of the center surrounding the pond, called 'kvosin' (meaning 'burrow'). But in recent years several quality restaurants have made their mark in this eastern part of old Reykjavík, and one of them is Carpe Diem. Located in the same building as Fosshotel Lind, Carpe Diem is a quiet and relaxed restaurant, decorated in mild off-white colors with bright and un-intrusive art on the walls. The menu offers excellent international cuisine at moderate prices.
