Overview
The 18th-century Villa delle Rose is surrounded by a beautiful Italian garden which contains rare exotic plants. It was donated to the city of Bologna in 1916 by the widow of Count Armandi Avogli who wanted to see it become a center of artistic initiatives. The villa was opened as the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in 1926. In 1975 the gallery was moved to the modern exhibition area. Today, the villa still belongs to the gallery and hosts many temporary contemporary art exhibitions and various types of art shows.
