Overview
This church was designed by Andrea da Valle and building began on it at the beginning of 1532. The church was damaged by an earthquake, and the façade and the vault were rebuilt by Angelo Venturoli. The façade is very linear and sobre. The coat of arms above the portal belongs to the Ghisilieri family who owned the houses where the church was built. This church's most unusual feature is to be seen in its belltower which was built in the 16th Century from the 13th-century tower from the houses of the aforementioned family. The nave in the church contains many valuable works of art by Carracci, as well as the funeral monument of the anatomist, Marcello Malpighi.
