Also known as Boxing Day, St. Stephen's Day is commemorated the day after Christmas as a joyful occasion and community festival. Boxes of food, money and gifts are collected and given to the needy and various charitable institutions. Local bands play and food vendors sell holiday treats. A tradition that began in the 16th Century - lords and ladies of England presented their servants with Christmas gifts in decorative boxes. It is free to watch and participation is welcome.
