If you head north from Rimini on either the A14 motorway or the Via Emilia for about 25 minutes, you reach Cesena where the historical center inside the 15th Century walls shows traces of Malatesta humanism. The Malatesta Library, Rocca (which houses the Farming Museum) and, down the Via delle Scalette, the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Monte are all well worth a visit. During the three summer months, Cesena is home to night horse-trotting races in the horse racing stadium. A little north of Cesena you will find Longiano, called the "ideal village" for its unhurried rhythms and for the cordiality of its inhabitants. Do not forget to visit the castle over 1000 years old that contains an interesting collection of modern art, the Museum of Sacred Art in the oratory of San Giuseppe, and the lovely Teatro Petrella.
