Il Gambero Rosso is located in the heart of the cool and friendly hill town of San Piero in Bagno, which can be reached from Rimini by superhighway E45, exiting onto A14 at the Cesena Nord exit. What is striking about this place is the olfactory aspect, with the aromas of mountain, earth, greenery, wine. The restaurant is cool, sunny, very stylishly decorated with dried flowers, small plants on the tables, antique furnitue, decorated plates and freshly laundered green tablecloths. The wine list offers the best of Romagna and a few bottles from the rest of Italy. To eat, start with the appetizers, including the very good Panzanella (potato cake) and Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano (ewe's milk cheese).Continue with the Sloe Plum Tagliatelle, Bassotti (pasta cooked in broth and then gratiné), Manfrigoli Con lo Squacquerone (tangy soft cheese), Frittata (fried eggs with Acacia flowers), lamb and mixed vegetables; the desserts however, do leave a little to be desired: they are perhaps a little too simple.
