Musei di San Domenico - Pinacoteca Civica, Rimini

About 40 kilometers/24 miles west of Rimini lies the “new town” of Forlì. The town really has a Roman origin—the Roman name was "Forum Livii"—but was much enlarged in the first half of the last century and is a sort of open-air catalogue of modernist architecture. Forlì also boasts an interesting picture gallery. It is housed in the recently restored Convent of San Domenico, including the church and two cloisters. The new structure could be considered one of the most interesting in central Italy. Since 2006, the paintings are here on display with a nice selection of works from the 12th to 17th Centuries. Among them should be mentioned the panels by Maestro di Forlì, Beato Angelico and Lorenzo di Credi. - Maria Frullini
