Overview
Priceless collection twinned with the Gabinetto Nazionale delle Stampe which is to be found in the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. Chalcography is still very much practiced and comes from the Calcografia Camerale founded in the first half of the 18th Century. The definitive headquarters was created in 1837 and located in a palazzo created by Valadier. It holds one of the largest chalcography collections in the world, containing items dating back to 1500. A recent inventory counted more than 23,000. Amongst the there are etchings by Salvator Rosa, Antonio Canova, Giovanni Battista Piranesi and amongst the modern artists those of Carl Carrà and Giorgio Morandi.
