This cinema is located, along with a shopping center, inside one of the most characteristic buildings in the old town, a magnificent example of Art Deco. It was designed by the engineer Pietro Portaluppi in 1927 and was characterized by two orders of covered galleries, and a dome of leaded glass which could be opened. What can be seen today is a reconstructed building, even if it was attempted, at least on the exterior, to keep to the original design, as can be seen by observing the superb facade facing Corso Cavour. No Art Deco decoration has been conserved in the interior. The Politeama cinema is very prestigious, and doesn't just show films; it hosts conferences, cultural events, and theatrical productions. The chairs are arranged in a sort of amphitheater so that everyone has a good view of the screen, and the cinema also has digital sound.
