Tucked down a tiny, curving alleyway in the Trastevere neighborhood, Dar Poeta has become something of a Roman pizza institution, which you’ll figure out once you see hungry mobs outside. So come early or be prepared to wait. The pizzas here range from classic—margherita, marinara—to offbeat: the spicy, bean-topped “Mexican” pie is better than it sounds. There are also variations on the theme of bruschetta: thick bread topped with tomatoes and basil or pumpkin spread.

  We LOVE LOVE LOVEd this place! Between the welcoming staff, the amazing food and delicious mega-affordable wine we could have eaten here every day if it had only been closer to our hotel. Word to the wise: the "Mexican pie" was not on the menu anymore -but that was ok - there was plenty to choose from. And by the way: 1 pizza to split as more than enough - and save room for the cheese and nutella canolli! (You can split that too - even the small or piccolo size is enough to share!)
