The National Museum of Oriental Art (Museo Nazionale d'Arte Orientale) is a great attraction for those fascinated by all things Oriental. Founded in 1957 and subsequently dedicated to the learned Orientalist, Giuseppe Tucci, this museum houses collections on permanent loan from the Italian Institute for Africa and the Orient. Some of the most interesting artifacts on display have been brought all the way from the Gandhara region of Asia, which today falls in North Pakistan and East Afghanistan. Many objects that Tucci collected on his travels to Tibet, Nepal and Ladakh are also housed here.
