Santa Maria dell'Orazione e Morte church is located in the heart of Rome on the Via Giulia street. It was first built in the 16th century and then rebuilt again about 150 years later. You will be surprised to find skulls and other death images depicted on the entrance. Let that not stop you from entering this holy place. A reason for this imagery is because the church took upon itself the task of cremating abandoned corpses found in Rome. And these were then respectfully buried in the nearby cemetery along the Tiber river bank.
