Overview
This is one of the oldest theaters in Rome. It was built in 1732 by the architect Theoldi on commission from the Sforza Cesarini family and has been restored many times over the years. It became the premises of the Teatro Sabile company of Rome in 1994, currently directed by Mario Martone. By means of collaboration with other Italian companies, and as a result of the interesting technical possibilities the stage offers, the program is varied, with some large-scale productions. Cultural initiatives, such as conferences, debates and the reading of classical texts, often take place during the winter months in its foyer.
