Overview
Housed on the second floor of the medieval Palazzo del Popolo, Museo Civico is dedicated to the works of prominent Italian artists. Some of the works include frescoes made in the 14th Century by Memmo di Filippucio, the Annunciation by Filippino Lippi, the picturesque painting of Madonna in Glory with saints Gregory and Benedict by Pinturicchio and the magnificent fresco of Maestà by Lippo Memmi. It was around this famous fresco by Lippo Memmi, which was made in 1317, that the museum was first established. These along with several other paintings are part of the artistic heritage of Italy in medieval times which are on display at the museum.
