Mittelfest, Trieste

it is dedicated to a specific theme every year and takes place in the pretty Cividale del Friuli. It attracts thousands of Italian and foreign tourists every year. Mittelfest includes dance shows, poetry and prose readings, concerts and visual arts. More than 600 international artists take part. The organizers explain that the "silk route" is the route of saints and hermits, of luxury and excess, of nomadism and diaspora, of open spaces and borders, of Marco Polo and the Argonauts. The festival's inspiration is Friuli Venezia Giulia, that crossroads of people and cultures, the Centuries' old gateway between the East and West. This is an event which shouldn't be overlooked.
