There are many fans of music and talented young musicians in Turin. Many study and practice daily in this prestigious Conservatorio. Founded in 1936, it moved to Via Mazzini in 1967. It has an elegant and luxurious hall which hosts practically all the concerts performed by the music society of Turin. It is a spacious room which has excellent acoustics, and is called the Sala Grande, the large room, because of its large size. The conservatory also has a library with more than 100,000 volumes and 3,500 musical manuscripts some of which date as far back as the 18th century.
