Da Rioba is placed in the quiet Cannaregio area, off the tourists' beaten path. It takes its name from Rioba, one of the Moor merchant brothers, whose statues can be seen in the nearby Campo de'Mori. The osteria has just one room with typical wooden tables of different sizes, but, if the weather's nice, you can also choose to eat outside on the canal bank. Rioba offers traditional Venetian cooking, with some innovations; fish is the star here, and the cooks use it in everything from pasta to their homemade gnocchi. Try the Cut the beef on grilled mixed seasonal or the Duck on Belgian endive braised with marjoram.
