Venice never had many foreign restaurants until, in a short space of time, two restaurants specialising in Arab cuisine opened very close to each other. To find them, get off the boat at Cà d'Oro and walk towards the New Foundations. The atmosphere is grand but not pretentious; the clientèle is made up of locals and tourists. Sometimes they have live belly dancing shows and the service is efficient. The cuisine is Arabic; kebabs and cous cous with vegetables, various sauces and yogurt drinks or tea. They dont serve many fried dishes apart from the fagottini con verdure (a type of tortellini with stuffed with vegetables); the kebabs are excellent. It is best however to try a little of everything, and as it goes, the prices are reasonable enough to allow this.
