According to local folklore the cottage is believed to have been the home of Hnse Lovisa, a courageous and generous woman from the play The Child (Ungen in Norwegian) written by Oskar Braaten in 1911. Hnse Lovisa was characterized as a matriarch, who took it upon herself to care for the children of women who went to work in the factories that surround the river. It is now run by a local art collective who exhibit their work inside the cottage. It is a perfect place to rest your legs and buy a tasty snack, before continuing your journey along the Akerselva River.
