Overview
A top state worker, journalist, writer and politician, Guerra Junqueiro was a well known figure during the late 19th Century, and also a celebrated poet of his time. Born in 1850, Junqueiro later died in Lisbon in 1923. His works were also a great inspiration to the revolutionaries that established the Portuguese republic. This statue is located at the Praça de Londres, and it is a work by the sculptor Lagoa Henriques. It was inaugurated in 1968.
