Versailles Pastry, Lisbon

After being in existence for 82 years the Versailles Pastry remains exactly the same resisting the need to modernize, lookwise as well as foodwise. They have kept the Art Nouveau interior with mirrors, wooden counters, stucco ceiling decorations, grand chandeliers and black and white marble floors as it was.The Versailles Pastry was quite recently declared a part of the national heritage. It still serves the famous Mozambique black tea that was introduced in 1662. Tea, coffee, beer or liquor all is served here. Snacks could be sandwiches or codfish balls, or simple Portuguese food. They are also famous for their confectioneries served in a glass case which is a must have.
