A friendly pub on several levels, the strangely-named Thing Mote (Anglo-Saxon, apparently) is impressively laid out in dark wood and wrought iron, and is a particularly enjoyable place to hide out in during dark winter afternoons. Due to its central location, the pub gets very busy during the weekend, attracting a mainly young student crowd, and it is also a popular spot for pub lunches.
