Overview
Located between the Shannon estuary and the River Deel, just outside the village of Askeaton, the Aughinish Alumina Nature Trail is an oasis of quiet and natural beauty. The trail wanders through gentle meadowlands where you can see an abundance of flora and fauna. There are many varieties of plants and wild flowers, wild berries and grasses. A large selection of wildlife can also be seen in the wetlands near the estuary and riverbank. The surrounding woodlands are home to gorse, crab apple and many other indigenous plants. The area is an ideal location for those interested in bird watching.
