You'll find this museum dedicated to Simón Bolívar, the historical leader of the independence movement in Latin America, in the Bolívar neighborhood, just 5km from Markina. The museum is located in the country-house, "Errementarikua", once belonging to Bolívar's ancestors. It was completely remodeled and inaugurated on July, 24, 1983 to commemorate the bicentennial of his birth. You'll find here temporary exhibits, information about the Bolívar neighborhood and the Cenarruza monastery nearby, while one floor is dedicated in its entirety to Simón Bolívar, with allegorical objects from Venezuela and Colombia. Another floor is entirely dominated by the history of the medieval era. The museum also has a library, open only to accredited researchers, and a small bookshop. Check website for more details.
