The Vanguardia. Galería de Arte opened its doors in 1984, and is dedicated to promoting, spreading and selling contemporary art and new tendencies in general. Petra Pérez Marzo, the gallery manager, works principally with Basque artists and organizes exchanges with other galleries abroad. Photographers, painters, sculptors and installation artists have all exhibited their work here: Josúe Pena, Txupi Sanz, Begoña Usaola, Ana Laura Aláez, and Mertxe Periz among others. Vanguardia has always participated in important trade fairs ever since it opened. The gallery's collection consists of a long list of works by artists that Vanguardia works with exclusively.
