Hoya La Vieja, Gran Canaria

This little place only has four tables, although you can also eat at the bar. It is quite cosy, with a blend of stone and wood decor, and seems more like a family dining room than a public venue. It's aimed at workers from the area and shoppers in the Triana district. It specialises in home-made stews with the chef's personal touch. The main dishes are cuttlefish, vegetable ragout, fried bonito (a type of tuna) and the stew of the day. You can also order tapas, raciones (large helpings) or medias raciones (half portions) of various items, while locally-produced wine is favoured over all others.
