Calle San Juan de Dios is the place to come for fabulous 16th-century religious buildings; they practically line this busy street. Start from Plaza del Triunfo and head south to the spectacular baroque Iglesia de San Juan de Dios and its adjacent Hospital San Juan de Dios. Carry on down to Monasterio-Iglesia de San Jerónimo, where you'll find the tombs of Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, better-known as the Gran Capitán. Carlos V's 16th-century university square stands opposite and houses the 17th-century Jesuit college that became the main university building.
