The Santa Inés Chapel is located less than a kilometer from the town of San Antonio in the direction of Cala Salada. There is documentary evidence of its existence dating from the 14th Century. The legend tells of how the statue of Santa Inés came to the island aboard a boat that got into difficulties during a storm. The boat reached safety on 24th August, and since then, this is the day the saint has been honored. In the past, the ceremony took place in the chapel itself, but nowadays it is protected by an iron gate that is only opened on special occasions.
