The only way to get to the Es Vi cave is to leave the car on the road nearby, and walk. The cave is under the so-called Cap Nunó, a mountain that can be seen from San Antonio and that caps the far end of San Antonio bay. Getting to it is not easy. The cave was discovered in 1917 and inside a number of paintings were found that were initially thought to be ancient cave paintings (the only ones on the island). But later investigations suggest they could date from the Punic era, since Cap Nunó was used as an important look-out point by this civilization. The paintings, which could represent several boats, are not in very good condition, which is why a fence has been put up to stop people getting too near.
