La Lumbre Taberna–which translates to The Fire Tavern–offers its frequent guests an inviting atmosphere, a good wine selection, tasty tapas, and waiters that are more like sommeliers. Regarding food recommendations, locals suggest the Salmorejo, a cold Andalusian soup made with tomatoes that tastes freshly homemade, or a house platter of meat or cheeses. The Idiazábal, a pressed Basque cheese, is one of the most surprising features of their tantalizing mixed cheese platter, and it goes well with any of the regional red wines. The experimental and seasonal food items are also noteworthy. In particular, the egg scramble with sea urchins and algae, which is available around the summer and spring months, makes for quite the dining experience. - Michelle Campagna
