Overview

This town of Arabic origin is also popularly known as Comedor de la Costa del Sol (Costa del Sol's dining room), for at Benahavís there are many restaurants of all categories and styles. At each of these restaurants you can eat almost anything, though their specialties usually include pork, lamb and game. With regards to architecture, the Montemayor castle and several watchtowers are still in a good state of preservation. This castle was a defense bastion during the reign of the Muslim Nazarí dynasty in Granada. This town is also a good place if you like to play golf, go trekking, mountain biking or hunting. How to get there: Benahavís is 8kms away from San Pedro de Alcántara (next to Marbella), so you have to take the Autovía del Mediterráneo (a dual carriageway) to San Pedro. There you will find road signs that will take you to the road to Benahavís.
