Overview
Originally the Royal residence of King Sancho from the 15th century, this collection of buildings features a pharmacy, neo-classic church, as well as various cells for monks. The Contemporary Art Museum, located within the charterhouse, features important works by artists such as Miró, Picasso, Tàpies, and Juli Ramis. The numerous celebrities who have visited The Charterhouse include composer Frederic Chopin and the writer George Sand who spend a winter together in cell four. Visitors can get a glimpse of the piano Chopin used to compose some of his most famous works as well as portraits and other memorabilia from his stay.
