Sal Gorda, Toledo

This is the best place in town for rice dishes and you'll find it close to the Avenida de la Reconquista and the Avenida de Barber. The grilled vegetables, locally-cured hams, salamis and sausages as well as red meats and game dishes (wild boar and deer) are all worth trying too. The house specialty is called arroz caldoso con bogavante (a delicious combination of savoury rice and seafood). The background music is good, the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed and it attracts the well-heeled business community. Quality local wines from Castilla-La Mancha are recommended, like a Marques de Grinon at around (EUR 18) a bottle.
