Overview

The heart of the city is home to its oldest surviving botanical garden known as Jardí Botànic. Its history can be traced back to the year 1567, when the garden comprised of medicinal plants and was used for its study and research for more than 200 years. Rendered in ruins, the garden was fully restored in 2000 by the University of Valencia and since then has been used for research and conservation of variety of Mediterranean plants. Although built more than a century ago, the tropical greenhouse and the shade house are equipped with modern and state-of-the-art amenities for the growth of tropical and moisture-loving plants.
