This is the most economical of the various tapas bars which fill this square. It is also the one with the most rustic, popular atmosphere with its long wooden benches and simple decor. It is famous for the curiously named Guardias Civiles (these are, in fact, the much feared policemen who wear the shiny, black hats), a tapas speciality of the house. The edible version is rather delicious, consisting of salted sardine on bread with tomato and spicy sauce. This is a good place to try plates of ham and cheese, sausages and salamis or snails, all washed down with a good Aragonese or Rioja wine.
