Moncayo, Zaragoza

Mount Moncayo, the highest in the province of Zaragoza, is 2,373m high and visible from the city (70km away). The mountain forms the natural frontier between Aragón and Castilla. Snow crowns the summit for several months a year and on its leafy slopes there are pine, beech, oak and juniper forests. It also fairly diverse fauna: eagles, deer, wild boars, rabbits, turtle doves and badgers. Moncayo is 30km wide and 25km long. Its snow and colour have been praised by the poets Martial, Bécquer, Machado, Argensola and others. Ideal for trekking and hiking alike. Transport: Bus to Ver or Tarazona
