Murveln, Gothenburg

Murveln is slang for "Journalist"; at one time this place may have been teeming with them, but it certainly is not today. The clientele are a varied bunch, most of whom come for a drink and perhaps some food. In the daytime they can be tired shoppers dropping by for an afternoon beer; in the evenings anyone will show up. This is because Murveln is in the middle of Nordstan, by daylight a large shopping mall, but at night a shelter from the cold or a shortcut to the railway station. Many come for the different casino and lottery games. Murveln offers cheap lunches, and a special of the week is available. The food is typically Swedish, while beer and spirits are the main items.
