Cafe l'Universal, Geneva

Café l'Universal provides a fun, trendy atmosphere in which to consume tasty, if somewhat overpriced, dishes. A favorite for birthday and bachelor/ette parties, the staff turns the music up around 11p, and people have been known to dance on the tables. The service is very laid back, so feel free to spend several hours eating or sipping on your café au lait. From its stark exterior, Café l'Universal looks like it does not have much to offer but upon pushing through the velvety curtain, an original, eclectic interior is revealed. The entrecôte au poivre (pepper steak) is excellent, as is its ever-changing selection of fish and other meats, including marrow bone, lobster salad, mushroom platter, tiger prawns, chicken Colombo.
