Ethnographic Museum, Zurich

Situated among the lush Park zur Katz that used to be Zürich's Botanical Gardens, the Anthropological Museum of the University of Zürich shows "treasures of a kind, as you wouldn't expect in this area." The list of countries from which the museum shows objects and rare documents in its permanent exhibition is long: Africa, Tibet and the Himalayas, China, Japan, Indonesia, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, Bali, India, Ceylon and Thailand, America and Oceania. Further, Völkerkundemuseum holds various special exhibitions and has its own library. All this makes a visit to the museum seem like a giant step outside your known environment.
