Amstel Fifty Four, Amsterdam

An old-watering hole in Amsterdam, Amstel Taveerne also holds the distinction of being the first gay bar in town. The bar has been known for its drinks since generations and becoming a gay bar has improved its popularity further. Over the years, the clientele at the Amstel Taveerne has created a joie de vivre that has literally seeped into the walls of the place, making an evening here extremely pleasurable. The bar welcomes gay, straight, locals, tourists. Generally, after a couple of rounds of drinks, some patrons spontaneously burst into song, inviting everyone to sing along.
