The Nederlandse Opera (Dutch Opera), under the direction of the dominant Frenchman Pierre Audi, is one of the very best and most adventurous in this part of the world. Strangely enough, it has a chorus but not an orchestra of its own. However, there are more than enough great orchestras in the region that take turns in the pit.
