No better way to understand the mixing of cultures than by studying the cuisines of a country. Indrapura in Amsterdam, specializes in serving rijsttaffel, an Indonesian way of dining which became popular in colonial Netherlands. Rijstaffel which translates as Indonesian rice table in Dutch is served at Indrapura with small portions of shrimp, beef, chicken, prawns, pork, lamb and vegetables, all cooked in hot spices and peppers, accompanied with rice which forms the essence of Indonesian cuisine. Vegetarian rijstaffels are also available. The sheer number of side dishes in the rijstaffel make for a filling dinner. Besides this, the regular À la carte menu is also served. All meals can be enjoyed with a glass of premium wine offered by the restaurant.
