Overview
Found just outside the Houseboat Museum, on the intersection of Amsterdam's Prinsengracht and Elandsgracht, Johnny Jordaanplein, or Johnny Jordaan Square, is a public square dedicated to the famous Dutch folk singer of the same name. The square has since become something of a monument to all folk singers and performers from the Jordaan, with statues of Johnny Meijer, Tante Leen, Manke Nelis and, of course, Johnny Jordaan all placed here. The Jordaan is a picturesque area of galleries, café and artistic studios, and Johnny Jordaanplein forms its cultural and artistic heart. -Declan Aylward
