Kooning van Siam (De), Amsterdam

A well-appointed Thai restaurant in the Red Light District, De Kooning van Siam is a far cry from the packed sports bars and seedy clubs that surround it. While the nearby Zeedijk may be teeming with authentic Thai kitchens, De Kooning van Siam, which means "The King of Siam," is a more high-end dining venue. The menu is typically Thai, with lots of coconut milk and seafood on offer in dishes such as the ubiquitous king prawn Thai red curry. Set menus are also available, a popular choice with the groups of up to 30 people that the restaurant is happy to accommodate.
