Puri Mas stands for Golden Temple and the restaurant tries to uphold this idea in terms of service and hospitality. Its central location, near the Leidseplein, makes it popular with tourists. This comfy restaurant has a modern interior elegantly decorated with Indonesian handcrafts and paintings. The staff dresses up in traditional Batik costumes to welcome you, and the Indonesian music keeps you entertained. The service is friendly and adds to the atmosphere. The restaurant is famous for its Rijsttafel, a feast of mild to strongly spiced Indonesian dishes. Rijsttafel literally means Rice Table, a variety of dishes in portions spread over the whole table. Although it is a Dutch idea, its origins are clearly Indonesian and it was known at one time as Makan Besar.
