't Tuinfeest , Amsterdam

A cozy, intimate little bar and restaurant just off Nieuwmarkt, 't Tuinfeest's name means 'The Garden Party'. The name is appropriate because, not only does the split-level interior of the bar house a number of plants, the bar is well known for its large, tasty salads. The atmosphere is suited to couples or small groups of friends, where sharing a typical Dutch fondue makes for a great way to start the night. On summer nights, the mixed crowd of locals and expats spill out around the corner on the tiny, makeshift terrace. All the while, in the colder months, the large windows are perfect for watching Amsterdam cycle with a beer or hot drink. -Declan Aylward
