Trattoria Toto , Amsterdam

Amsterdam is full of Italian restaurants, but most are simply pizza places and don't have the feeling of a traditional Italian trattoria. Trattoria Toto has no such problems, and everything from the service to the ingredients in the food feels authentic. In typical unhurried style, the restaurant does not open early in the day, making this a place for an afternoon meal at the earliest. The menu offers a great selection of Italian dishes both in Dutch and in English; those with a taste for rich foods should try the pasta with gorgonzola-walnut sauce. Trattoria Toto is a place to take the time to enjoy your food and, while the kitchen may close at 11:15p, customers are welcome to stay chatting over wine until late. - Declan Aylward
