Overview
Known as the Trippenhuis or The House of Mr. Trip s Coachman, this happens to be the widest old houses in Amsterdam. Built in 1660 by two wealthy brothers—Lodewijk and Hendrick Trip, the house was built for Mister Trip's coachman when the coachman expressed his desire to have a home built as wide as his master's front door. Now it is home to the Dutch Academy of Sciences.
