Neighborhood: Digbeth
Overview
The Malt House is a large, brick-built Greenall's pub somewhat cut off from neighboring Brindley place entertainment venues by dint of it being on the wrong side of the canal. Despite it covering a huge area, with plenty of nooks and crannies and odd-shaped rooms (and even an upstairs terrace), it is still heaving at weekends with party-goers working themselves into a sweat before they get anywhere near a club. Hanging baskets make it an attractive daytime drinker if those later crowds bother you, and the location is perfectly pleasant. The pub's greatest claim to fame is that Bill Clinton once sipped ale here.
