Cricketers (The), Cambridge

This unique, Irish-owned pub has more to it than first meets the eye. To begin with, its interior walls are decorated in an homage to that most quintessentially English of sports: cricket. If you find the sport baffling, you are not alone, but to gain an insight you could do much worse than observe the memorabilia and chew the fat with locals over a pint of real ale. And that is not all, the friendly landlord is committed to encouraging live music, with a weekly regular Jazz band as well as guest artists playing several times a week. The pub consists of two separate sections and a nice beer garden. Well worth a short detour from Parker's Piece!
